byfirstlight's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bathing with baby So I'm curious. How many of you moms bathe with your kids? I do. Isabella always takes a bath with me. Except for her very first bath, which I gave her in one of those plastic baby tubs and she screamed her head off. I just wondered if that's standard practice, or if I'm a big weirdo. We like bathtime together. She likes to float in the water, and she loves how I sit her on my lap and let her hold her toes under the faucet. I guess it's my own way of bonding with her, since I no longer nurse. And don't get any screwed up ideas, out there. I think it's perfectly healthy, especially at an age like this. I think bathing with your child is a great way to bond. I remember I took baths with my mom until I was around three. And it was never a weird thing. I wasn't aware of "nakedness", really, until I started school. I mean, I knew I was naked, but I didn't know that being naked meant anything different than being clothed. And I'd like to raise her that way. I don't want her to be aware of all the negative stigmas associated with being undressed. It's stupid. And not only that, but she really hates being in the water alone. The baby tub is out of the question. The sight of that thing makes her mad. And if I put her in the big tub without me, she gets fussy almost instantly. But then if I hop in with her, she immediately becomes complacent, and has a grand old time in the tub. So I think it's a good thing. And...darn it. I just lost my train of thought. Guess that means it's bedtime. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and all that good stuff! 10:43 p.m. - 12.24.02 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
