byfirstlight's Diaryland Diary

Murphy's Law.

This is just one of those days. Where if something can go wrong it will. And believe me. It has. Repeatedly.

First of all, I think the dog is jealous of the baby. I know she loves her, because she always guards her (she'll even come get us if Isabella wakes up from her naps crying), but I still think there's a bit of jealousy. Because she's just been so destructive lately. Terribly destructive. Here are just a few examples:

1) She paws open our garbage cabinet, knocks over the garbage can, pulls out the poopy diapers, and shreds them all over the house (she actually EATS the poopy part, though).

Um, EW!!!!

It's so gross. The house gets a nasty poopy smell, and I have a hell of a time cleaning the mess up. Because as you know, disposable diapers turn the urine into a jello-like substance. Do you know how hard it is to get all those millions of little jello pee-beads off carpet? I'm gonna have to go and get those toddler cabinet locks sooner than I anticipated.

2) She clawed through the screendoor in our back yard yesterday. Granted, there's still a real door past that, so she couldn't get into the house, but now we need to replace the damn screen. Grr.

3) She keeps tipping over her dish of dog food and scattering it. She won't eat it, though. She goes and eats all of Boo's food (Boo is our cat).

4) She keeps getting on the furniture. She's not allowed on the furniture. She has two of those comfy dog cushions - one in our family room and one in the bedroom. She knows she's not allowed on the furniture.

5) She has peed in Isabella's room twice. That really makes me mad. She NEVER pees in the house. Ever. Well, except for the two times she went and peed on Isabella's BRAND-NEW carpet. Argh.

6) She keeps knocking over the outside garbage can and spreading the garbage all over the backyard! Our neighbors are trying to sell their house, and every afternoon I have to go out and clean up garbage. I bet they're thrilled to see that each and every day.

This is so out of character for Freckles. She never did ANY of this before the baby was born. Never. And now, as each day passes, she gets worse and worse. It's gotta be jealousy. She's a smart dog, and she knows she's doing bad things. Because she always acts guilty afterwards. It sucks. Now, when she acts weird, I have to do a run through of the house to see what she did this time. It's so frustrating.

Secondly, Isabella just peed all over the couch, and it got all over her outfit that I just put on her. That's mainly my fault. I should know better than to change her on the furniture, because every time I do, something like this happens. And I can't find our Pet Stain & Odor remover. I've got two bottles of the stuff and they've both disappeared into thin air. So I used Spray & Wash instead. I hope it works as well. I don't need a pee-smelling couch.

THEN she spit up what looked like her whole damn bottle of formula that I fed her at 2:00. I'm sure it wasn't, but it looked like it. So I had to change her outfit AGAIN.

I've got so much work to do today to get ready to go back to work on Monday, and everything, EVERYTHING is working against me. It sucks.

Ugh. I'm so frazzled.

And here I am, sitting on my butt writing a diary entry. Oh well. I needed a release. Now I feel better. And Isabella is being cute and cooing, so I'm going to reach over and pick her up and play for a while. Then I'm going to feed her (earlier than normal, because she barfed so much), and hopefully she'll go down easily for a nap so I can accomplish something.

Let's hope.
